Sourdough Spice Cake

This is a beautiful little recipe that is easy to make, however like anything sourdough it takes a little bit of prep time.  You can have the first part prepped and in the fridge and pulling out and finish it off an hour or two before guests arrive or children arrive home from school.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of flour of choice
  • 1/2 cup of sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup of milk of choice
  • 1/2 cup of oil (coconut oil, butter, ghee)
  • 1/2 Sweetener (sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc)
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs,
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

 

Method.

  1. Mix flour, sourdough starter and milk together well and leave for 8-12 hours.
  2. Melt oil of choice and add to the mixture along with all the remaining ingredients into a batter
  3. bake in the oven at 175 degrees for 25-35 minutes
