Fermentation Course - 2017

Family Health Naturally Fermentation Course is a 4-month program that walks you through the different types of fermentation. Each month's class will focus on a different type of ferment and help you gain the confidence to start creating your own ferments at home!

Units Covered:

Unit 1 - Jan 14th: Fermentation for beginners - Why fermentation is important for health, basics principles of fermentation, including a hands-on class in making sauerkraut - take home your own jar of sauerkraut to ferment!

Unit 2 - Feb 11th: Fermented Beverages - Water Kefir, Coconut Kefir, Milk Kefir, Sour Cream, Whey, and Kombucha - in this class you will make your own sour cream or flavoured Kombucha to take home.

Unit 3 - March 11th: Fermented Veggies - Move past just sauerkraut and into how to ferment a variety of different vegetables, with a hands-on lesson in making Kimchi to take home and ferment.

Unit 4 - April 8th : Fermented Condiments - Variety is the spice of life and having many fermentation options means you can enjoy different ferments all year round! In this class, we will demonstrate how to make fermented Mayo, Tomato sauce, Cherry Chutney, and several other condiments to 'spice up your life'. Again you can take home one of the ferments made in the class.

Each unit comes with recipes and information to fill your fermentation folder with.

There will be an opportunity to purchase grains, Starter cultures and other useful tools from the trade table.

All sessions held at Allness in Invermay, Launceston at 10am.
